  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • Kosher salt, fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 pound mushrooms, such as cremini button, oyster, or maitake, quartered
  • 1 pound green beans, stems trimmed, cut in half, or coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup of whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 clove garlic, finely grafted or chopped
  • French’s onions

Directions To Prepare The Dish

  1. Heat the olive oil, add onions, and season with salt and pepper. Until they start to soften and brown stir occasionally. (10-12 minutes)
  2. Season it with salt and pepper and add mushrooms, reduce heat to medium. Cook it for 10-12 minutes until they shrink and soften and concentrate on their flavors.
  3. While seasoning with salt and pepper, add green beans. Until they turn bright green and tender carry on with stirring. (8-10 minutes)
  4. Add butter and let it melt in the skillet. Stir for 2 minutes to toast in the fat and browned bits of the skillet and sprinkle flour over everything. Add milk and let it thicken between stirs.
