Hillary Secretly Waiting To Publicly Announce TPP Support – WikiLeaks #PodestaLeaks

Hillary Clinton is privately waiting to announce public support for the TPP, according to leaked Podesta email published today.

The leaked email shows her campaign colluding with the Press to protect her against questions from the media while discussing hitting the “reset” button and announcing her support once they believe Trans Pacific Partnership legislation is moving.

In the first email in the chain Robby Mook makes it clear that Hillary Still supports the deal by asking if Hillary should announce her support if they feel the legislation is moving forward.

If we do think it’s moving, do we want her to announce her support via letter before we announce the campaign so we can press “reset” with labor during announcement?

Jake Sullivan responds suggesting instead Hillary defer publicly announcing support instead pivot on the question and defer announcing public support after stating he would like guidance from the communications folks.

If it does come up, I would love guidance from the comms folks. As a straw man, let me throw this out:

“The details really matter. I believe that there is a way to do this right. I want to make sure that trade legislation and trade deals look out for the middle class. That’s why the details really matter. I’ll have more to say on this in the days to come.”

Then I would have us do the letter.

Mook responds pointing out other’s can say it better than him be he suggests:

“there have to be clear groundrules in these agreements that other countries must abide by the same labor standards and environmental protections that we do here so our middle class competes on a fair playing field overseas. I’m certain Americans can out compete anyone, but everyone needs to play by the same rules” which allows her to appear that she doesn’t support the deal.”

The email also discusses a coordinate roll-out to garner support and references getting unions on board.

As we know now support has all but stalled at this point because with the election coming up the deal is toxic to anyone who supports it.

After the election though it will be game on.

The email comes on the heels of several other emails in which the campaign spins Hillary’s need to Flip-Flop on the legislation due to loss of supporters and revelations that Hillary’s campaign Chairman was secretly discussing the TPP with Billionare George Soros

That's a relief to hear that you don't think it's moving. If that's the
case, I completely agree she should keep her powder dry.
On the quote--and I agree she should have one ready for the event--I would
maybe be more specific along the lines of "there have to be clear
groundrules in these agreements that other countries must abide by the same
labor standards and environmental protections that we do here so our middle
class competes on a fair playing field overseas. I'm certain Americans can
out compete anyone, but everyone needs to play by the same rules". Others
can say that better than me.
