Technical Diagram Of BP Gulf Oil Spill Well

As I pointed out in my last post I am currently in the process of creating a timeline showing of the depths of the 5 blowouts that occurred during the drilling of the BP Gulf Oil Spill well.

To map those blowouts to the depths they occurred at I first looked at the following technical diagram showing the depths of each section of the well casing.

I then began referencing those depths to the relief well diagrams that BP has posted to show the progress of the drilling of the relief wells.

But I quickly discovered that BP is publishing inaccurate well diagrams.

I extended the lines on the left of the diagram showing the depth to center of the diagram where the BP Gulf Oil Spill Well is located and noticed that the location of the different sections of the well casing are all shown in the diagram at wrong depths.

To help visualize this I labeled the cut out of the diagram below showing the depth indicated by the diagram on the left of the well and then put the real depths of each section of the well casing next to their markers on the right.
